Massive Data Breach at Sutter Health Exposes Personal Info of 845K Patients

Sutter Health has disclosed a data breach involving one of its vendors, Virgin Pulse, which exposed the personal information of over 845,000 patients. The breach occurred due to a ransomware attack on a file transfer tool called MOVEit. The compromised information includes names, dates of birth, health insurance details, provider names, treatment cost information, and treatment information or diagnosis. Sutter Health is offering affected patients a year of free access to Experian IdentityWorks for credit monitoring. No social security numbers or financial information were impacted. This breach follows similar incidents involving the MOVEit tool affecting other organizations, including government agencies.
