Dighton Police Chief and Pfizer Employee Charged in Insider Trading Scheme

Dighton Police Chief Shawn Cronin and reserve officer Joseph Dupont have been charged in an insider trading scheme that allegedly made over $2.2 million in illegal profits. Dupont, a former vice president at Alexion Pharmaceuticals, shared confidential information about an upcoming acquisition with Cronin, who then purchased stock and call options. After the acquisition was publicly announced, Cronin and his friends sold their shares, resulting in millions of dollars in illegal trading profits. Both Cronin and Dupont have surrendered to authorities and face multiple charges, including securities fraud, which carries a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison.
