Tesla begins construction on $375M Texas lithium refinery.

Tesla is set to hold a groundbreaking ceremony for its $375 million lithium refinery in Texas, which will produce battery-grade lithium and is expected to start operations by the end of 2023 with a capacity of 50 GWh per year. Texas Governor Greg Abbott has praised the facility, emphasizing the importance of the lithium refinery to Texas’ state strategy and the need for the state to be more self-reliant in producing and refining lithium. The facility will benefit the Robstown Independent School District by generating tax revenue from its operations.
