Ford Halts Construction of Marshall EV Battery Plant

Ford has announced a pause in the construction of its $3.5 billion electric vehicle battery plant in Marshall, citing the need to ensure competitive operations. The decision comes amidst the ongoing United Auto Workers strike, although the company did not confirm if it was a factor. The battery plant, which was set to be run by Ford's subsidiary, Blue Oval Battery Park Michigan, would have employed 2,500 people. Ford had planned to license battery technology from China's CATL but faced pushback from the community and Republican leaders.
