Mercedes-Benz Joins Tesla's Supercharger Network, Adopts EV Charging Standard

Mercedes-Benz has announced that it will adopt Tesla's electric vehicle charging standard and gain access to Tesla's Supercharger stations, making it the latest automaker to strike a deal with the EV giant. Starting in 2025, Mercedes will integrate Tesla's North American Charging Standard (NACS), but customers will be able to use Tesla's chargers using a plug adapter from next year. Mercedes is also building its own charging network and plans to establish over 2,000 charging hubs worldwide by the end of the decade, with 400 in North America. Tesla has recently made similar agreements with Ford, General Motors, and Rivian, allowing their EV customers to use its Supercharger network. Tesla CEO Elon Musk stated that opening up the chargers to competitors is the right thing to do to promote electric vehicle adoption and sustainability.
