BMW, Ford, and Honda have formed a new company called ChargeScape, LLC, aimed at creating a single platform to connect electric vehicle (EV) drivers, automakers, and utility companies. The company plans to develop an Open Vehicle-Grid Integration Platform (OVGIP) that will allow utility companies to access a universal pool of energy from EV batteries, gather energy use data, and enable vehicle-to-grid capabilities. ChargeScape also aims to promote the use of renewable energy and invites other automakers to join the initiative.
