Mayor Parker's Division: Restructuring City Departments for Efficiency

Mayor Cherelle L. Parker announced the split of the Department of Licenses and Inspections into two divisions, each with its own commissioner, in response to the agency's expanding responsibilities and longstanding criticisms. The move aims to improve efficiency and address public safety concerns, with one division focusing on inspections, safety, and compliance, and the other on "quality of life" issues and business code enforcement. The reorganization follows calls for reform and recommendations from a task force, and will require approval from City Council and voters to become permanent.
