"Justice Department Appoints First Chief AI Officer and Science Advisor"

Attorney General Merrick B. Garland has designated Jonathan Mayer as the Justice Department’s first Chief Science and Technology Advisor and Chief AI Officer to ensure the department is prepared for the challenges and opportunities presented by new technologies. Mayer, an assistant professor at Princeton University, will advise on complex technical issues, spearhead technological capacity-building efforts, and lead the department's efforts on AI and other emerging technologies.
