The annual Gasparilla Parade in Tampa kept Tampa Fire Rescue busy with 156 medical calls, including one for a 78-year-old man who fell from a parade float. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office made just one arrest for boating under the influence, while the Tampa Police Department arrested 18 individuals, including two for driving under the influence and eight for boating under the influence. Fire Chief Barbara Tripp expressed gratitude for the first responders and partner agencies who worked tirelessly during the event.
