"Deadly Riots Erupt in Haldwani After Mosque Demolition"

Twenty-five more people have been arrested in connection with the February 8 riots in Haldwani, Uttarakhand, following the demolition of an "illegal" madrassa, bringing the total arrests to 30. A delegation from Muslim bodies visited the area and alleged discrimination based on religion in the treatment of protesters. The violence resulted in six deaths and over a hundred injuries, with curfew still in force in the affected area. The state government has sought central paramilitary forces to maintain law and order, while the Chief Minister has promised a stern response to the violence.
