Ex-Army Veteran Convicted of Manslaughter Arrested for Jan. 6 Capitol Riot

Edward Richmond Jr., a former U.S. Army soldier convicted of manslaughter for killing an Iraqi civilian in 2004, has been arrested for attacking police officers with a baton during the U.S. Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021. Richmond, who was wearing protective gear and a Louisiana state flag patch, was captured on body camera footage assaulting officers in a tunnel outside the Capitol. He is facing charges including civil disorder and assaulting police with a dangerous weapon, and is scheduled to appear in court.
