Secret Service Eases Restrictions on Marijuana Use for Agent Applicants
The US Secret Service has updated its employment policy to allow applicants who have previously used marijuana to be eligible for employment one year after their last consumption, regardless of age. The agency has also added a policy for assessing candidates who have used federally legal hemp-derived CBD products within one year of their application on a case-by-case basis. The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has also recently revised its cannabis rules for job applicants, making it so applicants who have grown, manufactured or sold marijuana in compliance with state laws while serving in a “position of public responsibility” will no longer be automatically disqualified.
