Teen macro prodigy wins global close-up contest in youth category

Fourteen-year-old Rithved Girish, based in the UAE, won the Youth category of the Close Up Photographer of the Year 7 for a macro shot of a stingless bee nest in Kerala, India, using a Nikon D850 with a Sigma 105mm macro lens; he’s a Wildlife Photographer of the Year runner-up, and CUPOTY’s 8th edition opens May 8, 2026.
