This incident follows a previous case in October 2022 where a temporary worker lost a leg after falling into an industrial blender. Despite being fined over $1 million for violations, OSHA was called again after another temporary worker lost a finger. The recent injury occurred when a worker reached into a meat grinder's discharge port without the required safety guards. OSHA has cited the company for repeat violations and called for changes in workplace culture and prioritizing worker safety. Zwanenberg Food Group USA has contested OSHA's findings.
