
"Jan. 6 Rioter Sentenced to 5 Years for Zip-Tie Handcuff Use"
Eric Munchel, known as the "Zip Tie Guy," has been sentenced to nearly five years in prison for his involvement in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. Munchel and his mother, Lisa Marie Eisenhart, were convicted of felony and misdemeanor charges related to their actions during the insurrection. They entered the Capitol building wearing tactical vests and carrying zip-tie handcuffs, encouraging other rioters to fight with police. Munchel was found guilty of additional felonies, including possession of a dangerous weapon. Eisenhart received a two-and-a-half-year prison sentence, while both face supervised release and restitution payments.
