Yemi Mobolade Makes History as First Black Mayor of Colorado Springs
Yemi Mobolade, an independent candidate, has become the first elected Black mayor of Colorado Springs, defeating Republican Wayne Williams in the runoff election. Mobolade campaigned on improving the city's infrastructure, housing, and safety, as well as building a business-friendly city. He will succeed Mayor John Suthers and become the first non-Republican to hold the office since the city started electing mayors.
