Genesis Launches Magma Racing Team and Unveils Le Mans Hypercar

Genesis has unveiled its GMR-001 Hypercar, set to debut in the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2026 and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in 2027. Built on an Oreca chassis, the car will feature the LMDh hybrid setup. Genesis Magma Racing, led by Cyril Abiteboul, will operate from Circuit Paul Ricard, with testing starting next summer. "Aston Martin's Valkyrie Hypercar: From Pub Design to Le Mans Return"

Aston Martin has ruled out the involvement of Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll in their Valkyrie Hypercar program, stating that they will focus on recruiting drivers from their existing roster for the team's campaigns in the World Endurance Championship and IMSA SportsCar Championship. The team plans to utilize drivers contracted to Heart of Racing and Aston Martin Racing, with the possibility of supplementing the lineup as needed. While there is no ambition to have a big name driver, the door is not closed for Alonso to race a Valkyrie after his F1 career. Testing for the Valkyrie program will initially involve the AMR Pro track-day Valkyrie before a more definitive car is introduced.

Ford debuts Mustang GT3 race car at Le Mans with Proton as first customer.

Ford has unveiled its new Mustang GT3 ahead of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The car will compete in the 2024 World Endurance Championship season and before that, it will be fielded by customer teams and compete in several GT3 series. The first customer team, Proton Competition, intends to field two Mustang GT3s in the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2024. Ford Performance will support a two-car factory race program with Mustang GT3 competing in IMSA's GTD Pro division, managed by Multimatic Motorsports and will debut at the 2024 Rolex 24 at Daytona.
