Legal Battle Continues: Texas AG Ken Paxton's Deposition Delayed
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton faced a legal setback as a judge rejected his attempt to avoid a trial in a whistleblower case against him, where he is accused of retaliating against former aides who reported him to the FBI for alleged misconduct. Despite his denial of any wrongdoing, Paxton agreed to accept the judgment in the case but his attorneys' arguments for avoiding a trial were rejected by the judge. This comes after a temporary victory in the Texas Supreme Court, controlled by Republicans, which paused his scheduled testimony. Paxton had faced impeachment last year but was acquitted by the state Senate, and a jury trial would be the first time he would have to answer questions under oath about the allegations.
