John Farano, owner/driver of Tower Motorsports, was transported to the hospital after crashing his No. 8 Oreca 07 Gibson into the Turn 5 barriers during Sunday's Motul Course de Monterey at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. IMSA confirmed that the defending LMP2 class champion was taken to the hospital for further evaluation, but a team statement later confirmed that he was in "good spirits" and would be released shortly.

Ganassi Cadillac Claims Victory at Laguna Seca IMSA Race.

Chip Ganassi Racing's Cadillac driven by Renger van der Zande and Sebastien Bourdais won the Motul Course de Monterey at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, making Cadillac the first manufacturer to claim a repeat victory in the new IMSA GTP era. The No. 6 Penske Porsche 963 of Nick Tandy and Mathieu Jaminet came second, followed by the No. 25 Team RLL BMW M8 Hybrid V8 of Nick Yelloly and Alexander Sims' AXR Cadillac. Kellymoss with Riley scored its maiden class win with Kay van Berlo and Alan Metni leading a sweep of the top seven positions for GTD machines among the production-based ranks.

Porsche dominates IMSA Laguna qualifying while JDC-Miller faces learning curve.

JDC-Miller Motorsports made its debut in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Motul Course de Monterey as the first customer team in a field of factory efforts. The team arrived at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca with no testing and no experience with the car other than the crew putting it together with the Porsche engineers in Weissach. The team found its first issues early, making only a handful of laps in the first practice session on Friday. Just finishing the race will be an achievement.
