A Waterloo man, Jordan Welch, was critically injured after driving in the wrong direction on Highway 218 and colliding head-on with a semi-truck. Welch's car caught on fire and crashed through the median into the southbound lanes. He was air-lifted to an Iowa City hospital, while the semi-truck driver was uninjured. Both lanes of Highway 218 were diverted until Friday morning.
