The character, initially pitched for Mario Tennis 64, was rejected before a design could be finalized. Walpeach's outfit, clad in purple like Wario and Waluigi, had a more edgy look with buckled boots and a spiked bracelet. Aoki shared character design sketches and 3D renderings on Instagram, stating that Walpeach would have had a similar personality to Wario and Waluigi, viewing Peach as her rival. Despite never making it into a game, Aoki's reveal has inspired fanart.
