A Georgia auto shop owner has been ordered by a court to pay $39,934 in back wages and damages to nine former employees after violating the FLSA's overtime provisions and retaliating against a former employee who contacted the Department of Labor. The former employee had received his final paycheck in oil-covered pennies dumped on his driveway with a crude note. The court has also forbidden the owner from additional discrimination and retaliation against any employee and ordered them to remove all photographs and references to the former employee from the company website.
