"ESPN's Dick Vitale Battles Vocal Cord Cancer"
Legendary college basketball announcer Dick Vitale has announced that he has been diagnosed with vocal cord cancer, marking his third battle with cancer in two years. After receiving treatment for melanoma and lymphoma, Vitale will now undergo six weeks of radiation to treat the vocal cord cancer. Despite the diagnosis, the 84-year-old remains determined to be ready to commentate college basketball games for his 45th year on ESPN when the season begins in the fall. Vitale's health update coincides with the 2023 ESPY Awards, where he accepted the 2022 Jimmy V Award for Perseverance for his previous battles with cancer.
