Fenway Sports Group, the parent company of the Boston Red Sox, has joined a virtual golf league backed by Tiger Woods. The league, called the Players Series, features professional golfers competing in virtual tournaments using the video game "PGA Tour 2K21". The move marks Fenway Sports Group's first foray into esports and gaming.
The Los Angeles Golf Club, owned by Alexis Ohanian, Serena Williams, and Venus Williams, has been announced as the first team in the new virtual golf league, TGL, launched by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy in partnership with the PGA Tour. The league will feature 18-hole matches on a virtual course and will take place in prime time on Monday nights in a custom-made venue in Palm Beach, Florida. Six three-person teams will compete in 15 regular-season matches and a playoff, starting in January 2024.
