Remembering Vincent Stewart: Marine General and DIA Leader.
Vincent R. Stewart, the first Black director of the Defense Intelligence Agency and a Marine Corps lieutenant general, has died at the age of 64. During his nearly four-decade-long military career, he advised presidents Obama and Trump on global threats and national security issues. He was known for initiating sweeping changes and modernization efforts at the DIA, including shifting the agency's focus to long-term existential threats from China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran. He also spoke out against racial injustice, both in and out of the military.
