"GNOME 46: Last-Minute Decision on Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) Support"

The GNOME 46 desktop release, scheduled for 16 March, may not include Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) integration due to the feature coming down to the wire. The ongoing work around VRR for GNOME includes refining the settings UI and updating the VRR backend support. While it's treated as an experimental feature and may not make it to GNOME 46, efforts are being made to iron out VRR support for the GNOME 47 cycle in the autumn, thanks to funding from Germany's Sovereign Tech Fund.

"GNOME Advances: Variable Refresh Rate Setting and Battery Charge Control"

GNOME developers are making progress on enhancing the desktop environment with Variable Rate Refresh (VRR) settings and discussing the best way to present the option to users. Additionally, there are pending merge requests for adding laptop battery charge threshold controls to help preserve battery health for frequently plugged-in systems, with work being carried out on UPower and the GNOME Control Center for this purpose.
