"Mountain Dew Man's Vow to Avoid Jail Ends in Life Sentence for Murdering Vermont Couple"
Logan Clegg, a homeless drifter known as the "Mountain Dew Man," has been sentenced to consecutive terms of 50 years to life in prison for the double homicide of two retired humanitarian workers on a hiking trail in New Hampshire. Clegg, who had previously killed another man in Washington state but was not prosecuted, will also serve additional sentences on lesser charges. The victims, Stephen and Djeswende Reid, were found buried under brush after Clegg attempted to flee the country. His arrest was the result of extensive detective work involving multiple agencies.
