Rash of Teen ATV/UTV Crashes Leaves Tragedy in its Wake

A 17-year-old North Branch teenager was killed and an 18-year-old Marlette teenager was seriously injured in a UTV crash in Lapeer County's North Branch. The UTV encountered another vehicle traveling in the opposite direction and maneuvered to the right to avoid collision, causing the UTV to go off the road. The vehicle was able to return to the road, but never regained stability before it left the road a second time. The teens were not wearing seatbelts or helmets, and the seatbelt safety system on the UTV was bypassed. The crash remains under investigation.

A 17-year-old girl died and an 18-year-old girl was seriously injured in a UTV crash in rural Lapeer County, Michigan. The UTV went off the roadway and rolled over multiple times before coming to rest upright on the west side of the road. The two occupants were not wearing seat belts and neither were wearing helmets. The fatal traffic crash remains under investigation to determine if either excessive speed or alcohol were contributing factors.

Ohio State OC Brian Hartline involved in UTV crash while under the influence of alcohol.

Ohio State football offensive coordinator Brian Hartline admitted to drinking before crashing a UTV on his property, according to reports from the Delaware County Sheriff's Office. Hartline and a passenger were sent to the hospital after the rollover accident. An investigation is ongoing, and a criminal offense has not been determined. Hartline is now at home and in stable condition. He was promoted to offensive coordinator in January after spending the previous five seasons as one of the nation's top wide receivers coaches.
