Breezy Johnson clinches Olympic downhill gold as Vonn crashes
Breezy Johnson won the women's downhill at the Milan-Cortina Olympics, giving the United States its first gold of the Games, after Lindsey Vonn crashed on her opening run and suffered a left‑leg fracture. Johnson, who has overcome injuries and a doping ban, finished in 1:36.10 to beat Emma Aicher by four hundredths of a second, and she joined Vonn as one of the two American women to win Olympic downhill gold. Johnson celebrated by tucking the medal away after it broke off its ribbon.
