North Korea Investigates US Soldier Travis King in Response to UN Outreach
The Pentagon has confirmed that North Korea has responded to outreach regarding Private Travis King, who crossed into North Korea in July. This marks the first public acknowledgment of Pyongyang's response to King's situation. The U.S. communicated through established channels and received an acknowledgement from the North Korean government. However, there is no substantial progress to report at this time. King had broken from a group tour and was scheduled to return to the U.S. after serving time in a South Korean detention facility. Army counter-intelligence is conducting a joint investigation with U.S. Forces Korea regarding King's actions.
