A Kansas man is suing US congressman Tim Burchett for falsely identifying him as a shooter at the Kansas City Chiefs’ celebration parade. Denton Loudermill Jr, who was wrongly labeled as an "illegal alien" and "shooter" in social media posts, experienced death threats and emotional distress as a result. Loudermill, who was not involved in the shooting and was in the country legally, is seeking $75,000 in damages. Burchett's office declined to comment on the pending litigation.
Internal campaign research conducted before his election raised multiple red flags about US Congressman George Santos, including discrepancies in his personal life, CV, and campaign finance. The research, which was published by CBS News, revealed that Santos falsely claimed to have degrees from New York University and Baruch College, had a history of working for companies accused of fraud, faced multiple civil judgments and housing eviction lawsuits, and had no evidence of personal investments or assets despite claiming financial success. Santos, who is currently facing federal fraud charges, has not yet commented on the revelations.
