US Deploys Second Aircraft Carrier to Mediterranean Amid Israel-Gaza Conflict
The Pentagon has deployed two aircraft carriers, the USS Gerald R. Ford and the Dwight Eisenhower, along with supporting ships, to the eastern Mediterranean as a deterrent following the attacks on Israel. The USS Gerald R. Ford, the world's largest aircraft carrier, carries over 75 military aircraft and is equipped with advanced missiles and radars. The Dwight Eisenhower carrier strike group, commissioned in 1977, can carry up to nine squadrons of aircraft. While these ships bring significant power to the region, they are primarily focused on self-protection and offensive operations, rather than acting as a missile defense system for Israel.
