Privacy Concerns Surrounding Nothing Chats, the Troubled iMessage App
Nothing Chats, an iMessage app built on Sunbird, has launched with the promise of end-to-end encryption, but it has been revealed that the app is not fully encrypted as claimed. User data, including images, can be accessed in plain text, and all data is sent and stored through Firebase without encryption. Sunbird has access to every message sent and received through the app, and user data is at risk. Nothing has pulled the app from the Play Store and will be delaying the launch to fix bugs.
