North Texas beat UAB 68-61 to win the NIT championship, but UAB missed many free throws and officials missed two obvious shot-clock violations on the Mean Green, which led to five undeserved points that changed a tight game down the stretch. North Texas coach Grant McCasland called it the biggest game in North Texas history, but UAB basketball is still in a great place.
UAB basketball defeated Vanderbilt 67-59 in the NIT quarterfinals, advancing to their third NIT semifinal in school history. Jordan Walker and Trey Jemison led the Blazers to victory, with Walker scoring a game-high 21 points and setting the UAB single-season scoring record, while Jemison added 17 points and 12 rebounds. UAB set multiple program records, including most wins in a single season, and will face Utah Valley in the NIT semifinals on March 28.
