Texas Tech has hired Grant McCasland as their new men's basketball coach on a six-year deal. McCasland, who spent the past six seasons as head coach at North Texas, has won three Conference USA titles and had a 31-7 record this season, winning the NIT championship. He will replace Mark Adams, who stepped down from his position on March 8. Texas Tech has advanced to four of the past five NCAA tournaments, including the Sweet 16 in 2022.
North Texas beat UAB 68-61 to win the NIT championship, but UAB missed many free throws and officials missed two obvious shot-clock violations on the Mean Green, which led to five undeserved points that changed a tight game down the stretch.
