India's Opposition Alliance Takes Stand Against 'Hate-filled' TV News Anchors
India's opposition alliance, led by the Congress party, has announced a boycott of certain television news anchors whom they accuse of spreading hate and showing partisanship towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Hindu nationalist government. The alliance, consisting of over two dozen parties, aims to provide a unified alternative to Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming national elections. Activists and rights groups have raised concerns about press freedoms since Modi took office in 2014. The opposition bloc has criticized the cable news shows for promoting the BJP's agenda and polarizing segments on religious minorities. The boycott includes 14 popular TV news personalities.
