The mayor of New Orleans has been indicted by a federal grand jury for allegedly misusing public funds to finance trips abroad and out-of-state, involving her police bodyguard with whom she had a personal relationship.
Supreme Court Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito have filed their 2022 financial disclosure forms, revealing additional trips and gifts. Thomas reported trips paid for by conservative billionaire Harlan Crow, including a rescheduled talk in Dallas and a vacation at Crow's resort. He also disclosed a real estate deal involving Crow and his family. Alito disclosed a trip to Rome paid for by Notre Dame Law School's Religious Liberty Initiative, as well as teaching income from Regent University School of Law and Duke Law School. The disclosures come after scrutiny of Thomas and Alito's ethics filings, including allegations of undisclosed gifts and trips. A lawyer for Thomas stated that there were no willful ethics violations and criticized the reporting as a "partisan feeding frenzy."
