Katrina Mullen, a nurse at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis, adopted a set of triplets and their 14-year-old mother, Shariya Small, after the Indiana Department of Child Services intervened and began looking for foster families. Mullen, who was once a teenage mother herself, had been visiting the babies even after they were discharged and showering them with gifts. She took on the four of them, despite already having five kids of her own, and recently adopted Shariya, who just finished high school and now plans to go to college.

The parents of Ethan Chapin, one of four University of Idaho students killed in November, have spoken out for the first time about their son's legacy and their family's healing. Ethan was a triplet, and his parents have started a foundation, Ethan's Smile, to offer scholarships for Conway-area graduates and for students attending the University of Idaho. Bryan Kohberger, a Ph.D. graduate student at nearby Washington State University, was arrested on Dec. 30 in connection with the murders.
