"SC Senate Approves Permitless Carry Bill, Removing Training and Permit Requirements for Gunowners"
The South Carolina Senate has passed a bill allowing adults to carry loaded guns without training or a permit, moving it closer to becoming law. The bill, known as permitless carry or constitutional carry, passed in a 28-15 vote largely along party lines. An amendment was added to offer free gun training classes overseen by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and lower the minimum age for obtaining a concealed weapons permit. Democrats opposed the bill, citing concerns about public safety and law enforcement challenges. The bill will now go back to the House of Representatives for further consideration.
