"Google's Android Bluetooth Trackers and Find My Device Network: What You Need to Know"

Android's Bluetooth tracking network, announced a year early, is set to launch with hardware partners Pebblebee and Chipolo shipping their trackers in late May. The trackers will be supported by Android's 3 billion-device Bluetooth tracker network and can be tracked using Google's "Find My Device" app. The devices will use speaker-based tracking and will be part of a joint standard with Apple to alert users if a tracker is being used to stalk them. The delay in shipping was due to waiting for Apple's release of its half of the joint tracking standard, which is expected to come out in iOS 17.5 at the end of May.

"Google's Find My Device Network to Bring 'AirTags for Android' Soon"

Google's new Android Find My Device network has started rolling out, potentially bringing Apple AirTags rivals to the platform for tracking lost belongings. The rollout is currently limited but may expand in three days, according to an email from Google. The network will leverage millions of Android devices to help track down offline devices and accessories, similar to Apple's Find My network. The delayed rollout was due to waiting for Apple's specifications for cross-platform tracking. The full rollout may coincide with Google IO 2024, where new third-party trackers from Tile and Chipolo could be announced.
