Oklahoma Senate falls short in overriding tribal compact veto.
The Oklahoma Senate failed to override Governor Kevin Stitt's veto of legislation extending two tribal compacts with the state. The governor is okay with the current 50-50 share of tobacco tax revenue but wants language changed to limit where the deal applies. Pro Tem Greg Treat said Stitt needs to normalize relations with the tribes before lawmakers vote on a new compact. While the version of the compact Treat supports has yet to get a complete override, he is confident he'll shore up support in time for a vote in July.
