Armed 18-year-old detained near Capitol after sprint toward building
An 18-year-old man armed with a shotgun ran from his car toward the U.S. Capitol and was arrested after Capitol Police ordered him to drop the weapon. He wore tactical gear, had extra rounds, and left a kevlar helmet and gas mask in his car; the suspect's vehicle was not registered to him and motive remains unknown as threats to members of Congress rise. The incident did not change security posture ahead of the State of the Union.
