Legionnaires' Disease Outbreak Strikes Las Vegas Hotels
Health officials are investigating three cases of Legionnaires' disease in guests who stayed at Caesars Palace Hotel and Casino and The Orleans Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Environmental samples taken at both properties tested positive for Legionella bacteria. The Orleans had previously experienced two confirmed cases of the disease and underwent remediation of its water system. Both resorts are cooperating with the investigation and taking steps to eliminate the bacteria and notify guests of potential exposure. Symptoms of Legionnaires' disease include coughing, shortness of breath, fever, muscle aches, and headaches. Guests who stayed at the resorts and develop symptoms within 14 days should seek medical attention and report their illness to the health district.
