Greg Brown, Founding Guitarist of Cake and The Distance Writer, Dies
Greg Brown, the founding guitarist of Cake and sole writer of the 1996 hit "The Distance," has died after a brief illness. He helped shape Cake's first two albums—Motorcade of Generosity and Fashion Nugget—before leaving the band, went on to form Deathray and work on side projects like Homie, and later rejoined Cake to play on "Bound Away" from 2011's Showroom of Compassion.
