Texas AG Paxton Files Lawsuits Against Five Cities Over Marijuana Decriminalization

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is suing five Texas cities, including Austin and San Marcos, to block their ordinances decriminalizing low-level marijuana possession, which were approved by voters in 2022. Texans Vote on Constitutional Amendments, Approve Fossil Fuel Development and Gas Power Plants

Thirteen out of the 14 proposed amendments to the Texas Constitution were approved by voters, with a turnout of around 14.41%. Propositions 4 and 9 received over 80% of the vote and will provide property tax relief and add funds to the retired teachers pension fund, respectively. Proposition 13, which aimed to raise the retirement age for judges, was the only one that failed. Travis County voted against three propositions, while three propositions passed in all 254 counties.
