This comes after the sudden death of one of his senior advisers, also suspected to be from poisoning. The king sought medical attention in Eswatini due to discomfort with receiving treatment in South Africa. Misuzulu's accession to the throne has been marred by a power struggle within the royal family, with a faction challenging his claim and insisting that another son of the late king should be the monarch. The king's mother, who briefly served as regent, also passed away recently. The South African police have not yet commented on the claims.
