Microsoft's Surface Dock 3 ditches proprietary port for Thunderbolt 4 and USB-C.
Microsoft has released a new version of its Surface Dock that uses Thunderbolt 4 instead of the proprietary Surface Connect port. The dock includes three USB-C/Thunderbolt 4 ports, three USB-A ports, an Ethernet port, and a headphone jack. It can provide up to 96W of power to a connected laptop and is compatible with most devices that include USB-C or Thunderbolt ports. The switch to Thunderbolt 4 suggests that future Surface devices may not include a Surface Connect port.
