Newcomer Sukh Kaur wins San Antonio City Council runoff in District 1.
Sukh Kaur, a former teacher and public school administrator, won the District 1 City Council runoff in San Antonio, ousting incumbent Mario Bravo. Kaur, who owns her own education consulting company, became the first person of South Asian descent to be elected to San Antonio’s City Council. With Kaur's win and Marina Alderete Gavito's win in District 7, six of the 10 San Antonio City Council members will be women.
