"Golden Gate Bridge Suicide Safety Net: A Second Chance at Life"
After years of debate, a suicide safety net is nearing completion on the Golden Gate Bridge. The $217 million project involves the installation of a stainless steel net, 20 feet below the sidewalk on both sides of the bridge. The net, equivalent to seven football fields, aims to reduce the number of injuries and deaths from jumping off the bridge. Survivors of suicide attempts on the bridge have expressed their support for the net, believing it will give many people a second chance at life. The construction of the net is set to be completed in December.
