"Review of $3 SATA SSD: A Bargain or Bust?"

StorageReview tested a $3 SSD from AliExpress and found that it performed significantly worse than a Kingston entry-level enterprise SATA drive. The cheap SSD, manufactured by Goldenfir, struggled to keep up with the Kingston drive in various benchmarks, achieving lower IOPS and longer response times. Despite using a Yeestor YS9083XT controller, the $3 SSD proved to be a poor performer compared to its more expensive counterpart.

Beware of Cheap SATA SSDs: A Reviewer's Experience

StorageReview tested a $3 SATA SSD from Goldenfir, a brand sold on AliExpress, and found that while it does use an SSD controller and has the advertised capacity, its performance is extremely poor compared to normal-priced drives. The $3 SSD struggled to complete benchmark tests and had significantly lower IOPS and latency compared to a Kingston entry-level enterprise SATA drive. StorageReview advised against using these cheap SSDs for storing valuable data and recommended them only for temporary or non-critical storage purposes.
